IB Environmental is seeking a Data Analyst with a passion for improving the natural environment and addressing equity issues related to access to water, and other environmental problems. The firm’s mission is to increase the appreciation for water resources and promote sound environmental policy through research, education, and action. IB Environmental offers flexibility in terms of work hours and location, including telecommuting. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required. The position offers two to four weeks of paid time off (based on a 20 – 40 hour per week arrangement).
The Data Analyst will do spatial and data analysis, will assist in generating maps, and writing papers/reports related to environmental policy.
The ideal candidate will have a professional demeanor, and be able to work independently. The position also calls for an eagerness to learn about new software, research, etc. Qualified applicants who are offered a position may be required to pass a background check.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of an undergraduate degree from an accredited four-year college or university
Geographical Information Systems (GIS) skills and experience
Strong Excel and other database management software skills and experience
Proficiency in Microsoft suite (particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Strong organization skills, accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks
Capacity to exercise independent judgment and initiative
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
GIS, data management, geospatial services, geographical sciences, or related undergraduate degree
Graduate degree in one of the above fields
Experience with U.S. Census data
Proficiency in statistics software
Two to five years of experience in GIS and data management
Experience generating maps, writing reports; analyzing and interpreting data
